COMMUNITY INITIATIVES

Schools alone cannot offer the scope of knowledge essential for alleviating the health, academic and economic achievement gaps in America. We look to build the capacity of community and faith based institutions to complement the work of school districts. Many of these institutions serving low income families are finding it increasingly difficult to compete in nonprofit environments that continue to converge with the business community.

They are finding it very difficult to navigate in this era of social change and entrepreneurship. These struggling institutions continue to be vital to our quest to boost economic outcomes for our customers. They can benefit from investments to secure their future. We will support community-based programs that offer alternative learning environments through Future Force branded goods and services.

Parents play a crucial role in nurturing their children to participate in rigorous learning environments that espouse college education as their goal. Future Force is working with leaders in education, business and industry to develop parent leadership development to include on-line resources that they can access at neighborhood-based technology centers.

Complementary Education connects out-of-school learning with in-school academic offerings using exploratory learning.

(1) Academics »Engages students using multi-media, verbal, and written expression, acceleration versus remediation. We help the student see the big picture.

(2) Culture »Visual and performing artistry, travel opportunities, field trips, cultural exchanges using innovations in technology to allow students to experience different cultures.

(3) Technology »Innovations in technology allow students to apply learning through neighborhood projects that build neighborhood capacity.

(4) Finance »Entrepreneur education and wealth-generating tools and resources are taught in a context that create options. A business school for low-income youth introduces them to financial literacy and wealth-building strategies.

(5) Workplace »Students learn how to transfer skills they learn at home, school and in the community to nurture career choices and employment options.

THE FUTURE FORCE ACADEMY

Early learning centers will be a primary focus as we plan to develop and pilot Future Force Learning Centers in rural and urban settings to offer quality learning beginning with the cradle roll.

The Future Force's long-range plans include organizing a network of charter schools that embody the zeal and resiliency necessary to compete in the 21st Century. The charter schools will serve Pre-K (4 Year olds), elementary, and secondary students with a continuum of education services to meet their social, health, educational and wealth needs.

THE FUTURE FORCE NETWORK

Celebrations create interest, excitement and sustain accomplishments. They demonstrate that someone somewhere cares. We will help communities plan special celebrations for students that make their school’s honor roll. We can bring a celebration to any community. All we need is a committed team of volunteers working in partnership with the local school district. Together we can develop a blueprint on how you can develop a plan for a Future Force Celebration. Remember it requires collaboration between the school district, leaders in business and industry and your local community organizations.

THE FUTURE FORCE TECHNOLOGY

NLI is organizing a team of Information & Technology professionals to put their heads together in Research and Development initiatives to create technology innovations to support the Future Force Brand. Using innovations in technology we plan to connect students across America to create synergy for our movement. This movement pays great attention to those students paying attention in school and making good grades. —The Future Force
